Talk to your recipes from ChatGPT or Claude
Connect CookNest to Claude or ChatGPT. Ask it to plan the week, prepare the shopping list or import a recipe, and it does it with your own recipes.

Ask the way you'd ask someone at home
The assistant searches your cookbook, understands what you mean and acts on your recipes, your planner and your shopping list.
- Searches by what you feel like, not just the title
- Plans the week with recipes you already have
- Builds the shopping list for a recipe or the whole week
- Imports recipes from a link and saves them where you say
- You
Plan my week with recipes from my cookbook
CookNestDone. I've planned seven dinners from Monday to Sunday with recipes from your cookbook. Thursday is the curry you have in favorites.
- You
Add what I need for Sunday's rice to the shopping list
CookNestDone. I've added 9 ingredients to your list, grouped by section. You already have the oil and salt in your pantry, so I left those out.
- You
Import this Instagram recipe and save it to the desserts collection
CookNestAll set. I've imported the cheesecake and saved it to your Desserts collection.
Everything happens in your CookNest account and shows up in the app right away
What the AI assistant can do with your recipes
The same things you do in the app, but by asking in writing.
Recipes
Search your cookbook, open a recipe, create, edit, duplicate or translate it. It also imports from a link or pasted text.
Favorites, cooked and notes
Mark favorites, log that you've cooked a recipe and keep personal notes on each one.
Meal planner
Plan a meal on a given day, check the week's menu, mark meals as done and leave a note for each day.
Shopping list
Build the list for a recipe or the whole week, add items, tick them off by name and clear what's already bought.
Collections
See your collections, create new ones, edit them and add recipes to each.
Pantry
Check and update what you always have at home so the shopping list skips it.
How to connect your recipes to ChatGPT or Claude
Three steps and the assistant is working with your cookbook.
Add the connector with the CookNest address
In Claude or ChatGPT, add a custom connector and paste the server address. ChatGPT needs a paid plan and developer mode turned on.
Sign in with your CookNest account
The CookNest sign-in page opens and you sign in with Google, Apple or email, just like in the app.
Start asking
You can now talk to your cookbook from the chat. Whatever the assistant changes shows up in the app right away.
Server address
https://mcp.cooknest.app/mcp
Official guides to add the connector
- Claude guideFree, Pro, Max, Team and Enterprise plans. Free allows one custom connector.
- ChatGPT guidePaid plans only, with developer mode turned on.
CookNest uses MCP (Model Context Protocol), the open standard AI assistants use to connect to other apps. That's why it also works with other compatible assistants.
Your recipes stay yours
The connection is built so the assistant can get things done, not so it holds your keys.
Only your account
The assistant only reaches the recipes, plans and lists of the account you signed in with.
No app credentials
The AI client never receives a Firebase or app credential. CookNest's server issues its own tokens and those are the only ones that leave it.
Disconnect whenever you want
You can remove the AI's access at any time without signing out of the app on your phone.
Frequently asked questions
Which assistants does it work with?
Claude, in the browser and in Claude Desktop, and ChatGPT. Also any other assistant that supports remote MCP connectors with sign-in, since it's an open standard.
Do I need a paid Claude or ChatGPT plan?
Not for Claude: custom connectors work on the Free, Pro, Max, Team and Enterprise plans. The Free plan allows only one custom connector. For ChatGPT, yes: MCP connectors need a paid plan (Plus, Pro, Business, Enterprise or Edu) and developer mode turned on in the settings.
What is MCP?
MCP (Model Context Protocol) is the open standard AI assistants use to connect to external tools and data. CookNest exposes your cookbook through an MCP server at mcp.cooknest.app, so any compatible client can use it.
Do I need CookNest Pro?
No. You can connect any CookNest account. AI imports you request through the assistant count towards the same weekly quota as in the app.
What data does the AI see?
The recipes, collections, plans, lists and pantry of your account, and only when the assistant looks them up for what you asked. It doesn't see your subscription details or other users' data.
Can it delete my recipes?
Only if you ask it to. The assistant can edit and delete recipes, lists and plans in your account, just like you can from the app. Delete actions are flagged as destructive so the client can ask you to confirm first.
How do I disconnect the AI?
Remove the CookNest connector in the Claude or ChatGPT settings. Your session in the phone app stays as it is. If you change your account password, every connection is cut and you'll need to sign in again.
